Cigars, Rum and Old Cars

So this is my first post about traveling.
I'm not a professional travel guide who knows everything about the island,
but i want to share with you my experiences and the places i found the best. :-)
Today i write about Cuba, an island between the Bahamas and Jamaica and between the Golf of Mexico and the carribean sea. I always wanted to go to Cuba because i love drinking Rum :-D so that was theee perfect match. Mostly i travel with my boyfriend and this was a very cool experience.
We had our hotel (Melia Peninsula) in Varadero, the big tourists place, where are also most of the hotels placed. Varadero is in the middle of Cuba and 3hours away from Havanna.
I'm that kind of person who loves to lay on the beach and relax but i also love to learn things about the island or country. So my boyfriend and I made a few tourists excursions :-)
We were there 10 days, end october-begin november and i think this was perfect because it wasn't to hot and the hurricain-time was already finish.

Havanna - Old Cars, Rum museum, Cigars and Hemingway

Havanna is really beautiful, when you love colorful buildings and cars. The old cars are really the highlight of Havanna. You can make pictures of them but when you want to sit in it, you have to pay (20dollar i think) and thats really expensive for just one souvenir picture.
There are a lot of people who come to you and ask you for your watch or cappy,
so please don't make the same mistake than Chris (my boyfriend) and let your expensive watch at the hotel in the safe, so nobody will disturb you :-)

As well are there women, they want to take a picture with your man (no problem) and they are calling flowerwomen i think, they are dressed up very beautiful, buuuut like the cars, you have to pay something ;-) nothing is free just the sun my friends.

The rum museum is also very interesting who those who love rum as much as i do :-).  They show you all the popular Havanna Rums, so as the younger and older ones. You can also try one with orangejuice (paying).

Than is there also a cigar 'factory' which one is very small but you can try a habano i think :-) That was very cool because you get also a traditional coffee. There is also a place where
you can buy cigars as a souvenir with a box and naturaly the cuban coffee which one is veryyyyy good, they told me :-p because i don't drink coffee.

 Into the jungle

Another cool trip is a Jeep Safari, where we could drive ourself a Jeep. We went like into the jungle (i know this wasn't a real jungle) to a farmer where we could try some different yummy things like papaya, coconuts and sugar canes. Also they explained us a little bit about the life of a farmer in cuba. I found this excursion very interesting, because where else you see the real life? Not in the hotel. ;-)

Than we did a boat trip on a flow where we drank mojitos and the BEST Pina Colada of the world !!!

Katamaran

Also a cool trip was a Katamaran tour, this trip was a day long and we went to Cayo Blanco. The name already say it white carribean beach.
This is a MUST DO !!!!! because you also eat ,langusto' with lemon juice on the barbecue.
As well on this trip you can swim with dolphins, but you don't really swim with them, you just take a cute picture for 20dollar with them ;-) but it was also a highlight because you can touch them :-D

These were trips which we needed to book, but i think that almost all the hotels have some cool
excursions :-)

Cuba is popular for his rum, salsa, white beach and cigars, but there is more than just that.
Travel through Cuba was so unique because the people are so friendly and you aren't a minute alone than they are very open for a talk. They are also very proud of their island.
I learnt also a lot about who was Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.

I hope you enjoy the post and have the wish to travel to cuba

Love L.
